Copyright Renewal Records Search, 1923-1978

This is a simple tool that allows you to search through the copyright renewal records digitized by Project Gutenberg and Distributed Proofreaders, and compiled by Google. These records are not complete, although it is believed that they cover a large portion of the renewal records from between 1923 and 1977, especially those relating to books. Renewal records from 1978 onward are available from the United States Copyright Office.

Technical Information

Google provides a version of the records in XML format. I wrote some code that took their document and inserted each record into a MySQL database (normalized), then I wrote a simple PHP script to query that database and display the results.

Search the Records

Note: Only up to 200 records are displayed. If you're seeing more, please refine your search.
